2024 OT Jarvis Adams Jr. details commitment to WKU

The Hilltoppers added some significant strength to next year's roster this past week, landing a commitment from Jarvis Adams Jr., an intriguing offensive tackle from Rome (Ga.) in the class of 2024.

The 6-foot-3, 290-pound recruit out of the Peach State sat down with InsideHilltopperSports.com to discuss his recent commitment to Western Kentucky, revealing what ultimately led to his decision.

"Well, first off, I just want to thank the man above. If it wasn't for him, I wouldn't be in this position. It feels great, I've always dreamed of playing college football. WKU just felt like the best fit for me to continue my athletic career."

Adams said that what led to his decision was how amazing Western Kentucky's campus is as he liked it's size and how beautiful it was. Adams said he also really liked how big the weight room is and the team's nutrition plan.

He added that another contributing factor to his decision was WKU offensive lineman Quantavious Leslie who is also from Rome, GA. Adams said that he wants to follow in Leslie's footsteps and be successful on the field with the Hilltoppers.

"Quantavious Leslie goes to WKU and he's also from Rome. He's been pretty successful at WKU and I want to take that same route and become successful. Why not WKU is what people should be asking themselves."

Adams said that the Hilltoppers jumped into the mix for his recruitment this past spring as he initially connected with WKU assistant coach, co-offensive coordinator and offensive line coach Zach Lankford over the phone, picking up the offer.

He said that he stopped by Western Kentucky a month later and felt like that's where he needed to be.

"Coach Lankford texted me and offered me over the phone on May 10th. And then I went on a visit the next month. It just felt like that's where I needed to be."

Adams said that what Coach Lankford really liked about his overall playstyle is his athleticism in screens. He added that what really stands out about Coach Lankford is his transparency when they met in person.

In addition to being pursued by Western Kentucky, Adams had a number of other intriguing programs in the mix.

Adams held five other offers from Georgia Southern, Middle Tennessee State, Southeast Missouri State, Southern Illinois and Western Carolina.

Adams listed Western Kentucky in his top three schools alongside Georgia Southern and Middle Tennessee State.
