The Hilltoppers added some more explosive firepower to next year's offense this past week, landing a commitment from Jaylen Hampton, a talented wide receiver from New Hampstead (Ga.) in the class of 2024.

The 6-foot-1, 195-pound recruit out of Savannah, GA. sat down with InsideHilltopperSports.com to go in-depth on his recruitment process with Western Kentucky, revealing what ultimately led to his decision.

Hampton said that the Hilltoppers have been involved in his recruitment for a long while as he picked up his second offer from Western Kentucky.

"The Hilltoppers have been involved in my recruitment for a minute now. They were my second offer and I did visit. It's just a nice place."

During his visit to Western Kentucky, Hampton said what stood out to him was the stadium, facilities and the history behind Hilltopper football.

Hampton said what ultimately led to his commitment to the Hilltoppers was his relationship with WKU assistant coach and receivers coach Micheal Spurlock and his bond with the players.

"What led to it was Coach Spurlock and I had a great relationship and we always just kept in contact, and I met some of the players. It just feels like the place to call home. I'm glad to be a Hilltopper."

Hampton said that what Coach Spurlock and the Hilltoppers' coaching staff likes about his film and playstyle is his route-running ability as he has great hands and can find open space on the field.

"Coach Spurlock thinks I'm a great route runner. I have great hands and I can find open space on the field and get up the field."

The rising senior out of the Peach State said that what stands out about Coach Spurlock is his game knowledge and experience in the league as he knows a substantial amount about the game of football.

"Coach Spurlock knows the game a lot. He also knows what he's talking about when it comes to receivers. And he's been in the league, so he knows so much about the game already."

In addition to being pursued by the Hilltoppers, Hampton held a number of other significant opportunities, including several intriguing G5 offers.

Hampton chose Western Kentucky over opportunities from Dartmouth, Georgia Southern, Liberty, Miami (OH), Pennsylvania, Tulsa and Western Michigan.
