Dayvion McKnight to enter his name into the transfer portal
Western Kentucky junior guard Dayvion Mcknight, an in-state talent and huge playmaker for the Hilltoppers the last few seasons, announced his intentions to enter his name into the transfer portal on Tuesday.
The former Mr. Kentucky Basketball 2020 winner enters the transfer portal shortly after Steve Lutz was introduced as the Hilltoppers' 16th head coach in program history.
McKnight, a former three-star recruit out of Shelbyville (Ky.) Collins signed his national letter of intent with Western Kentucky on August 8th, 2019. McKnight has been a crucial piece of the Hilltoppers' program since his freshman season in 2020-21.
The 6-foot-1, 195-pound point guard has been an offensive machine for the Hilltoppers for three years, including this past season. As a junior, McKnight averaged 16.5 points per game, 5.0 rebounds per game, 3.8 assists per game, 0.1 blocks per game and 1.8 steals per game.
McKnight additionally closed out his junior campaign with 45.6% shooting from the field, 33.9% shooting from the three-point line and 84.1% from the free throw line.
Over the course of his career as a Hilltopper, McKnight has averaged 13.1 points per game, 4.7 rebounds per game, 4.4 assists per game, 0.1 blocks per game and 1.6 steals per game.
In three seasons at Western Kentucky, McKnight was 45.0% shooting from the field, 31.1% from beyond the arc and 80.9% from the free throw line.
