After what he felt was being told one thing then told something different, Milford Academy (NY) safety Anthony Holmes bitterly de-committed from Temple. Holmes had been on board with the Owls since the spring in high school.
This time, Holmes feels like he's gotten it right. Now, he's committed to MAC rival Akron.
"I talked to Ron Powlus and he came to my house to see me," Holmes said. "The safety coach is coming to see me tomorrow. I have family in that area too, up in Akron, so it's a good area. As long as everything on the campus is good next weekend when I go up there, I'm gonna make it official."
Holmes turned down offers from WKU and Buffalo in choosing the Zips. He's yet to see the Akron campus, but will be taking an official there on Friday.
In talking to coach Rob Ianello, Holmes had his decision pretty well cemented when he learned how highly thought of he was to the Zips.
"Coach Ianello, the head coach, he told me that I'm number one on their recruiting board for everyone they're trying to get this year," Holmes said. "I've been thinking about that."
Holmes is rated as the No. 43 pep school player.
