The 6-foot, 182-pound prospect received an offer from the Hilltoppers back on May 19th and chose Western Kentucky over the likes of Georgia Southern, Army, Ball State, and others.

On his commitment to WKU, Patterson had this to say about his decision:

"Coach (Clayton) White and I have been communicating over the past month or so and I was able to finally go visit last weekend (June 17th). After visiting and learning more about WKU and how the defense is set up, I felt this was the right place for me."

Patterson is the third commitment the Hilltoppers have landed out of the Peach State and joins a 2018 class that already includes offensive lineman Sam Stovall, wide receiver Spencer Gaddis, athlete Maurquel Dillard, and linebacker Tre Leslie.
