The Hilltoppers added some explosive offensive strength to the roster this week, landing a commitment from Zackariah Simmons-Brown, a talented running back prospect from Central (Ala.) in the class of 2024.

The 5-foot-10, 175-pound recruiting target out of Phenix City, AL. sat down with InsideHilltopperSports.com to go in-depth on his interest in Western Kentucky, revealing what ultimately led to his decision.

"It feels great, I can't lie. And they showed the most love and were more committed to me then I was to them before my decision, so why not."

Simmons said that Western Kentucky has been involved in his recruitment process for a while as he was initially contacted by former running back coach Enrique Davis before getting in contact with WKU's new coach Andre Crenshaw.

Simmons added that he and Coach Crenshaw are constantly communicating, talking twice a week.

"At first, Coach Davis was there recruiting me since September. After he left, that's when Coach Crenshaw took over and it was the same. Coach Creshaw and I talk twice a week."

Simmons said that he hasn't taken an official visit to Western Kentucky just yet as he revealed he plans to wait until the start of the season to stop by The Hill.

He added that what makes him a solid addition to the Hilltoppers' running scheme is his ability to run in between gaps, his catching capabilities out of the backfield and his efficiency in the slot.

"I think my vision, being able to run in between any gap, inside or outside, and being able to make those tough runs, would make me a good fit in WKU's running scheme."

Western Kentucky initially jumped in the mix for Simmons this past January, extending an offer on Jan. 2.
