While running back Bobby Rainey and Tight End Jack Doyle have seen limited reps, other players have had a chance to emerge.
Offensively, former state of Kentucky first team All State quarterback Courtney Dalcourt has finally had the opportunity to prove what he can do as he bounces back from 2 knee injuries. He is now playing receiver and he has made some spectacular one handed grabs on more than one occasion during the past few practices. He finished the scrimmage Saturday with 2 receptions for 60 yards, including a 28 yard touchdown reception from quarterback Brandon Doughty.
Doughty finished the scrimmage with 142 yards on 8-21 passing wile throwing touchdowns to Dalcourt and fullback Kadeem Jones. Jones also had a 63 yard fumble recovery for a touchdown.
Other players making noise on offensive side of the ball include wide receiver Rico Brown and running back Tevin Bryant. Bryant rushed for a team high 119 yards on 14 carries and 2 touchdowns in this past weekend's scrimmage.
Sophomore quarterback Kawaun Jakes had a solid outing as he completed 10 of 15 attempts for 103 yards and a 25 yard strike to Joel German for a touchdown. German finished with 4 receptions for 44 yards and a touchdown.
Defensively, linebacker Tyran Golden led the way with 7 tackles and 2 tackles for loss. Other noticeable standouts Saturday were Defensive tackles Kenny Martin & Jamarcus Allen, linebackers Xavius Boyd and Tyler Julian, and cornerback Tyree Robinson.
