A Bowling Green product is returning to his hometown to finish his college football career.
Jamale Carothers, who was a standout at Bowling Green High School, has announced that he's transferring to Western Kentucky and will join the Hilltoppers for the 2021 season.
Carothers, a former two-star prospect out of the Class of 2017 and the Kentucky Mr. Football winner in 2016, spent the past three seasons at Navy and made 12 starts with 20 total appearances over his sophomore and junior campaigns.
A 5-foot-9, 203-pound fullback, Carothers rushed for 1,062 yards and 16 touchdowns while with the Midshipmen, and made eight receptions for 208 yards and three more scores.
While a senior at Bowling Green in 2016, Carothers rushed for 1,410 yards and 27 touchdowns – in addition to catching 45 passes for 884 yards and 11 TDs – to lead the Purples to the Kentucky Class 5A state championship with a perfect 15-0 record.
Carothers, who will be entering his senior season at WKU, entered the NCAA Transfer Portal back in May.
