Western Kentucky landed a commitment from Bulter (Ky) athlete Joe Brown on Sunday evening.
Brown made the announcement after taking his official visit to Arizona this weekend.
The Hilltoppers were the first to offer the 5-foot-9, 172-pound prospect back in February and he has remained on their radar throughout the coaching transition from Bobby Petrino to new head man Jeff Brohm.
Defensive backs coach Mike Cassity was key throughout the process and being a holdover from Petrino's staff helped make the transition even smoother for Brown.
Brown took his official visit to Western Kentucky last weekend and looking at the Hilltoppers' defensive scheme got the Louisville product excited.
""They let the corner play aggressive. A lot of man-to-man most of the time and that's what I've been taught so it wouldn't be a problem. They blitz the corner which I like and it seems like a defense I'd really enjoy."
He put up big numbers during his senior season, rushing for 1,242 yards and 15 scores and being that lockdown defensive back while leading his team to the state semifinals in class 6A.
His thoughts on being a Hilltopper.
"Western Kentucky was the best fit for me educational and football-wise."
