The Hilltoppers received their third football commitment for the class of 2021 in standout safety Jeremiah McClendon on July 24.
Named Florida all-state in 2019, the versatile defensive back is looking forward to his time on the Hill and is excited to join an array of other talent from the Sunshine State on the Hilltoppers roster.
InsideHilltopperSports.com caught up with Atlantic Community High School (Fla.) head coach Tavarius Jackson who went in depth of the safety's recent commitment.
- On Jeremiah's skill-set and his role on defense:
Jackson: "Jeremiah has good feet and hips which can help him when he gets in trouble. He has great ball skills and plays center field very well from the free safety position. I think he can play cornerback, nickelback, or free safety at WKU."
- On what appealed to Jeremiah about WKU:
Jackson: "He told me he wanted to leave the state of Florida. Also the amount of guys from Florida currently on the Hilltoppers roster."
- On what kind of leader Jeremiah is:
Jackson: "Definitely a more vocal leader."
- On what Jeremiah can improve on at the college level:
Jackson: "Staying in his back pedal is the one main thing he needs to improve on."
