Throw it up and watch him go get it. That's the formula for Islands (Ga.) wide receiver Shamar Sandgren's game.

One of three wide receiver commits in the 2020 Hilltopper recruiting class, Sandgren is certain he will be making plays for the Tops for years to come.

"No more visits to other schools. I'm 110% a Hilltopper," claimed Sandgren.

Sandgren picked WKU over Coastal Carolina, Georgia State and Charlotte. The latter of which a familiar conference foe for the Hilltoppers.

"I picked WKU because of the vibe it gave me when we went on my visit," said Sandgren. "My parents and I loved the campus."

Sandgren's talents are simple to observe. The kid has deep ball threat written all over him.

A combination of go, post, corner routes are all the South Carolina product needs to show off his talents.

"The coaches like my route running as well as my speed and yards after catch," expressed Sandgren.

This is something that will fit nicely in Coach Tyson Helton's offense that is currently completing just under 66% of its passes.

"Their season is going good and they are handling adversity," said Sandgren when asked about WKU's season. "They have only gotten better, and I can't wait to contribute."

Sandgren is completely on board when it comes to the Hilltopper mindset in the locker room. A family atmosphere holds great significance when it came to what he liked most about WKU.

"What stood out most would be how important it was to them to make the recruits comfortable. They treated us like we were already a part of the team," claimed Sandgren.

Wide receiver coach Chris Chesnut is getting a very positive and focused athlete in Shamar Sandgren. The standout receiver praises Coach Chesnut's ability to bond with players.

"I like that I can talk to him as a regular person and not always see him as just my coach," said Sandgren. "The relationship we have built hasn't gone unnoticed."

Sandgren has not scheduled his official visit, but says he will be posting on social media when he gets a date down. You can follow Shamar on Twitter @dequan_mar11.

Current Hilltopper comparison: Lucky Jackson

It's scary how similar these two pass catchers are.

Sandgren stands at 6'1" as does Jackson. Not only this, but they have the same frame as well at 170 lbs. give or take.

The two standout receivers were both ranked as two-star recruits coming out of high school showing that each of their respective games were overlooked.

Both guys use their length as an advantage in the deep passing game and find special ways to get open with precise route running ability.

We've seen Lucky Jackson have his share of outstanding performances this season. Jackson currently has a team leading 69 catches along with 875 yards.

Sandgren will look to match Jackson's effectiveness with a similar skill-set in the Hilltopper offense once he arrives next season.
