Make it three straight wins for Western Kentucky.

The Hilltoppers - fresh off victories over Alabama-Birmingham and Old Dominion - remained hot Saturday night and earned a 17-8 win over Army in front of a crowd of 16,107 at Houchens-Smith Stadium.

WKU (4-2 overall, 3-0 Conference USA) built a 7-0 lead after the opening quarter, held that same advantage at halftime and later scored 10 second-half points to never allow the Black Knights (3-3 overall) to get in front.

Quarterback Ty Storey completed 21-of-30 passes for 140 yards, while rushing for 62 yards and two touchdowns, to lead the way for the Hilltoppers. Running back Gaej Walker rushed for 132 yards on 25 carries and Lucky Jackson caught five passes for 45 yards.

Western outgained Army 365-208 and averaged 4.5 yards per play.

The Toppers return to action next Saturday against Charlotte in their annual Homecoming game. Kickoff is scheduled for 3 p.m. with a broadcast on ESPN+.

WKU struck first on its second drive of the game, covering 70 yards with 11 plays and capping the series with a 1-yard touchdown run by Storey. Storey hit Jackson for a gain of 22 yards and Walker soon ran for 16 to set up the score, which put the Hilltoppers up 7-0 at the 4:46 mark of the first quarter.

Western tried to add to its side of the scoreboard before halftime, but Cory Munson's 46-yard field goal attempt went wide right and the Toppers took their same 7-0 advantage into the locker room at the break.

Munson made up for his missed kick with a successful attempt midway through the third quarter - sending a 22-yard attempt through the uprights to push WKU's lead to 10-0 at the 7:27 mark. Munson's field goal capped a 15-play, 74-yard drive that lasted 7:33.

Army opened the fourth quarter with a 2nd and 5 at the WKU 10, but rushed for a loss of three yards and threw an incomplete pass on back-to-back plays, setting up a 24-yard field goal attempt.

David Cooper's kick sailed wide left, and the Hilltoppers held onto their 10-0 lead with 13:27 remaining.

Storey's second rushing TD of the night - this one another one-yarder - boosted WKU's lead to 17-0 with 4:02 left.

Army finally found the end zone with an eight-yard TD pass from Kelvin Hopkins, Jr. to Malik Hancock - followed up with a successful two-point conversion - with 1:41 to go, but it wouldn't be enough for a comeback and WKU held on.
