WKU center Jamarion Sharp shocked the college basketball world on Monday morning as he announced his return to Western Kentucky.

Sharp announced his return to the Hilltoppers over social media 10 days after entering his name into the transfer portal on April 29.

In his social media post, Sharp said that after talking with a few programs and scheduling a visit, he realized WKU was where he wanted to be and will be exiting the transfer portal.

InsideHilltopperSports.com projected Sharp would have ended up committing to Missouri due to his former coach Kyle Smithpeters at John A. Logan College signing an assistant coaching contract with the Tigers. Memphis was another school pursuing Sharp as well.

The former center for John A. Logan College was ranked a three-star prospect by Rivals.com and signed with the Hilltoppers on Nov. 11, 2020.

The 7-foot-5, 235-pound big man's return to the Hilltoppers is huge. Sharp led the nation in blocks per game and additionally achieved the C-USA Defensive Player of the Year award in just one season at the D1 level.

In one season with the Hilltoppers, Sharp averaged 8.2 points, 7.6 rebounds, 0.3 assists, 4.6 blocks and 0.8 steals per game. He also shot 72.6% (119-164) from the field and 39.7% (23-58) from the free throw line.

Sharp's return is a huge win for the Hilltoppers. During the offseason, Western Kentucky has also added Georgia State guard transfer Jordan Rawls, Kentucky guard transfer Dontaie Allen and Indiana guard transfer Khristian Lander to the roster for next season.

During the early signing period last season, the Hilltoppers also managed to add two JUCO players in Fallou Diagne and Tyrone Marshall Jr.
