Another week, another win for Western Kentucky.

The Hilltoppers (5-2 overall, 4-0 Conference USA) - who have been hot as of late - extended their win streak to four games with a 30-14 Homecoming win over Charlotte on Saturday evening at Houchens-Smith Stadium.

WKU and Charlotte were tied 7-7 after the opening quarter before the Toppers held a tight 17-14 advantage at halftime. They went on to outscore the 49ers (2-5, 0-3) 13-0 in the second half to come out on top and remain in the win column.

Quarterback Ty Storey completed 21-of-30 passes for 283 yards and two touchdowns - and caught a TD pass, while wide receiver Lucky Jackson made five receptions for 141 yards and a TD while throwing for a score, and Jahcour Pearson finished with 68 yards and a score.

The Hilltoppers finished with 351 total yards - an average of 5.3 per play - and went 6-for-15 on third down attempts.

WKU will look to remain hot next Saturday as it travels to Huntington, West Virginia to take on Marshall at 1:30 p.m. The game will be broadcast on Stadium.

Charlotte started off on the right foot.

Assembling a lengthy 14-play, 75-yard drive that knocked 7:48 off the clock, the 49ers capped the series with a four-yard touchdown run from running back Ishod Finger. Finger's score came after quarterback Chris Reynolds, running back Benny LeMay and the offensive unit picked apart the WKU defense to get into the end zone.

The Hilltoppers answered with a lengthy drive of their own.

Covering 75 yards with 12 plays in 6:20, Western found the end zone with a 30-yard TD pass from Storey to Pearson. Storey was sacked for a loss of eight yards on the previous play and the Toppers faced 3rd and 19, but the quarterback bounced back by delivering a perfect ball to Pearson for the score to make it 7-7 with 52 seconds left in the first quarter.

WKU doubled its advantage early into the second, using a flea flicker - one of the top trick plays the Toppers used to use when Jeff Brohm was head coach and Tyson Helton was the offensive coordinator - to find the end zone again.

On just the third play of the series, WKU used the flea flicker - and Storey threw to Jackson, who sprinted untouched down the left sideline for a 69-yard TD to put the Hilltoppers up 14-7 at the 12:45 mark.

Charlotte fired right back as Reynolds connected with LeMay for a 47-yard score. On 2nd and 26 at the WKU 47, Reynolds received the snap, stepped back and found LeMay opened along the right sideline - and LeMay went on to cross the pylon and make it 14-14 at the 9:00 mark.

The Toppers jumped back in front on a 45-yard field goal by Cory Munson - the longest of his young career yet. After WKU was unable to convert on 3rd and 5 at the Charlotte 27, WKU elected to kick the field goal and Munson sent his attempt through the uprights to put it up 17-14 with 4:08 left in the half.

WKU had a chance to extend its lead to 20-14 just before halftime, but Munson's 41-yard kick went wide left and the Toppers held their same three-point advantage at the break.

The Hilltoppers controlled the ensuing half.

Munson made up for his missed attempt with a successful one early into the third quarter. As Storey was sacked on third down in the red zone, WKU settled for a 32-yard kick - and Munson sent it straight through - to put the Toppers up 20-14 at the 10:45 mark.

Munson soon delivered again - this time sending a 48-yarder through the goal post - to give himself a new career high and push WKU's lead to 23-14 with 5:41 left in the quarter.

Western opened its bag of tricks back up right before the third concluded and put together another impressive play to add to its side of the scoreboard.

After Storey picked up eight yards on a third-down run to give WKU a first down in the red zone, Jackson received the snap and threw to Storey, who made the catch while standing in the left corner of the end zone.

The score made it 30-14 entering the fourth - and the Hilltoppers remained in front from there.
