College football is definitely in the air, especially when you're browsing through the local magazine stands and see the glistening covers of various preview magazines. Another much-anticipated season is upon us with Western Kentucky set to kick off the 2019 season on August 29th against Central Arkansas.

The preview magazines can either pump the fans full of positive possibilities - a winning record, a bowl bid, or battling for a division title - or they can temper fans' expectations and excitement like a cold dish of tacos and watered down sweet tea.

Tyson Helton enters his first season as a head coach, returning to Bowling Green where he served as quarterbacks coach and offensive coordinator in 2014 and 2015.

Among the four primary publications - Lindy's, Athlon, Phil Steele, and Street and Smith - three have WKU finishing fifth in the C-USA East. Phil Steele has the Hilltoppers finishing sixth. Athlon is the only publication to predict a win/loss record, they have the Hilltoppers finishing 4-8 overall and 3-5 in the conference.

When it comes to who will win the East Division, it's a mixed bag. Phil Steele picked Florida Atlantic. Lindy's and Athlon went with Marshall while Street and Smith chose Florida International.

As for individual honors, a lot of praise went out to Miles Pate on offense and DeAngelo Malone on defense. Pate received three first-team mentions and Malone picked up three second-team nods.
