Western Kentucky has pulled it off, officially.
With the signing of Chalmette (La.) 5-star rated center Mitchell Robinson on Tuesday evening, the Hilltoppers have inked all three of their 2017 verbal commitments and sealed the deal on their highest rated recruiting class ever.
“It’s obvious Mitchell is one of the most talented big guys in the country,” WKU head coach Rick Stansbury said. “His best days all lie ahead of him. He has a lot more abilities than just running and jumping and blocking the ball. He has a skillset where he can step out and really shoot the basketball. We’re excited to have him and his family be a part of our program.”

Robinson, the 6th rated player overall in the Rivals.com class, was the first commitment under new head coach Rick Stansbury and the centerpiece of a 2017 class that also includes 4-star shooting guard Josh Anderson out of Madison Prep Academy (La.) and 3-star shooting guard Taveion Hollingsworth out of Dunbar (Ky.).
The 7-foot, 220-pound prospect was a dominant force on the Nike EYBL circuit for Pro Skills this past summer, averaging 15.5 points, 11.6 rebounds, and 4.1 blocks per game.
With all three officially signed, the Hilltoppers now currently have the 7th best recruiting class in the country according to Rivals.com and the likelihood that Stansbury and his staff will continue to add to the class throughout the spring signing period as well.
