Texas A&M-Corpus Christi guard Trey Tennyson, one of the top talents on the Islanders' roster last season, entered his name into the transfer portal on Wednesday.

The 6-foot-4, 180-pound transfer target out of Arlington, TX. sat down with InsideHilltopperSports.com to discuss his overall interest in potentially reuniting with his old head coach Steve Lutz at Western Kentucky.

Tennyson said that he is definitely interested in potentially playing for the Hilltoppers, revealing that Lutz contacted him recently.

"Yes, I talked to him. It'd be great to continue playing for him and join a great program like Western Kentucky, but I'm just considering all my options right now."

Tennyson said Lutz is a great coach from both an offensive and defensive standpoint as he challenges you to continously work on your weaknesses, turning them into strengths.

The transfer guard additionally said that Lutz cares about toughness and competing because that helps you to develop more and more each day on the court.

While he has no visits planned quite yet, Tennyson said that he is interested in visiting Western Kentucky and is waiting on the Hilltoppers to get something set up.

Tennyson also said that what would make him such a solid addition to Western Kentucky's roster is the fact that he's a winner and he knows how to compete on the court.

In his collegiate career at Texas A&M Corpus Christi, Tennyson averaged 13.9 points per game, 2.0 rebounds per game, 1.3 assists per game, 0.1 blocks per game and 0.7 steals per game.

As an Islander, Tennyson shot 41.8% from the field, 38.7% from beyond the arc and 86.2% from the free throw line.
