On Saturday night, Western Kentucky received their second verbal commitment for the 2018 hoops recruiting class in Jeremiah Gambrell out of Madison (Tex.).
The 6-foot-3, 180-pound guard committed to Baylor in June and recently decommitted from the Bears a few days earlier.
Gambrell visited Western Kentucky over the weekend for Hilltopper Hysteria. He averaged 20 points per game as a junior.
The Texas product joins Shelton State C.C. forward Matthew Horton as part of the 2018 recruiting class.
VYPEHouston.com hoops analyst Ray Meach offered the following analysis on Gambrell:
"Jeremiah is a natural leader, pure scorer and can score in all three levels. He can catch and shoot, beat a defender off the dribble and get to his spot or blow by for a strong finish at the rim. His ability to make shots at a high level is his strength."
"Jeremiah is skilled enough to make tough shots in transition, coming off of screens and/or off of the dribble. Defensively he’s a prideful competitor that wants to defend the best ball handler in the opposing team. Great kid and great pick up for Coach Stansbury."
