MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Middle Tennessee running back Chaton Mobley rushed for a career-high 198 yards on 25 carries to lead the Blue Raiders to their first victory over WKU in the last four tries, 29-10, on Friday night at Floyd Stadium.
WKU senior quarterback Drew Eckels returned from injury to start at quarterback for the Hilltoppers. Eckels threw for 195 yards and added 14 yards on the ground. In the third quarter on a non-contact scramble, Eckels went down with injury and sophomore quarterback Steven Duncanappeared in relief. On his first play of the game, Duncan connected with junior receiver Lucky Jackson for a 46-yard touchdown strike, the Hilltoppers only touchdown score of the game.
Sophomore receiver Jacquez Sloan led all receivers with 89 yards on four catches including a long of 53 from Eckels in the first half.
As a team, WKU rushed for 109 yards on 25 carries (4.4 yards per carry) and threw for 270 on 16-of-47 passing.
Middle Tennessee outgained WKU 474 to 379, but a strong second half showing by WKU had the margin at 216-149 in favor of the Red and White. The Hilltoppers held Middle Tennessee without a touchdown in the second half after going into the break down 20-3.
