The Hilltoppers added some major firepower to the roster this week, landing a commitment from in-state star Kade Unseld, an explosive shooting guard from Warren Central (Ky.) in the class of 2024.

The 6-foot-4, 195-pound recruit out of Bowling Green, KY. sat down with InsideHilltopperSports.com to go in-depth on his recent decision, revealing what ultimately led to him committing to Western Kentucky.

The local talent said that it still doesn't feel real as he grew up watching Western Kentucky since he was a kid. Unseld said that he chose the Hilltoppers due to the relationships he's built with the players and staff as well as the culture within the program.

"It feels great, just growing up here and watching WKU since I was a kid, it still doesn't feel real. I chose WKU because of the relationships and the culture within the program."

Unseld said that WKU head coach Steve Lutz is a great coach and he trusts in both his plan for him as a Hilltopper as well as his plan for the program overall.

During his recruitment process with Western Kentucky, Unseld said that he built a strong relationship with all of the Hilltoppers' coaching staff and is eager to help bring championships back to Bowling Green.

"Coach Lutz is a great coach and I trust his plan for me and WKU's success. I have built a very strong relationship with all of the coaching staff and I want to help bring championships to Bowling Green."

Instead of taking an official visit with the program, Unseld said that he sat in on a ton of Western Kentucky's practices and even played with the team.

Unseld said that another aspect of the Hilltoppers' program that he likes is how the team welcomes him and how down to earth Coach Lutz is. Unseld added that all of the players on WKU's roster stand out to him as they are all great guys.

"I never really took a full official visit because I'm very familiar with the campus and everything like that. I've just been to a lot of practices and played with the guys. I like how the team welcomes me and how down to earth Coach Lutz is."

Western Kentucky jumped into the mix for Unseld's recruitment a few months ago as he added an offer from the Hilltoppers to his resume this past August.

Unseld decided to stay home and compete with Western Kentucky over an assortment of notable opportunities.

The senior shooting guard also held offers from Akron, Arkansas State, Ball State, Bellarmine, Belmont, Duquesne, Holy Cross, IUPUI, Kennesaw State, University of Illinois at Chicago, and Miami (OH), Murray State, Northern Kentucky, Ohio, Robert Morris, SEMO and Southern Indiana.
