Western Kentucky to travel west to take on Cal Baptist

Western Kentucky (9-3) is set to continue non-conference play on the road, traveling out west to face off against Cal Baptist (7-3) at the CBU Events Center on Tuesday night.

Tuesday night's matchup marks the first-ever meeting between the Hilltoppers and the Lancers as well as Cal Baptist's second matchup against a C-USA team. With a win, Western Kentucky would pick up their 10th win of the season.

The Hilltoppers enter the matchup with a five-game winning streak, recently defeating Austin Peay in a 65-64 thriller at E.A. Diddle Arena last Saturday to pick up the program's ninth victory of the season.

Western Kentucky shot 39.7% (23-58) from the floor, 27.3% (6-22) from beyond the arc and 72.2% (13-18) from the free throw line in two frames of play.

WKU junior guard Don McHenry led the Hilltoppers on the scoreboard, dropping 16 points, six rebounds, three assists, one steal and one block.

Another Hilltopper to make his presence known was WKU fifth year forward Rodney Howard, who finished the game with 12 points, four rebounds and two steals.

WKU redshirt senior guard Brandon Newman and senior guard Khristian Lander were also crucial to the Hilltoppers' success, picking up seven points each.

Cal Baptist is looking to improve their winning streak to two, recently defeating UC Riverside in a 70-69 thriller last Saturday.

The Lancers shot 50.0% (25-50) from the field, 55.6% (10-18) from three-point range and 55.6% (10-18) from the free throw line.

Cal Baptist junior guard Dominique Daniels Jr. was explosive for the Lancers, leading the team with 16 points, one assist and one steal.

Junior guard Blondeau Tchoukuiegno was another player on the Lancers' roster to make his presence known, dropping 15 points, five rebounds, three assists and two steals.

Cal Baptist junior forward Hunter Goodrick also had a great game, recording a grand total of 14 points, eight rebounds, two assists and one steal.

Western Kentucky is scheduled to tipoff Tuesday night's matchup against Cal Baptist at 7 p.m. CT as the contest is slated to air on ESPN+.
