Western Kentucky continues to add talent in the offseason via the transfer portal. On Sunday, the Hilltoppers picked up a commitment from Division II linebacker Devon Lynch out of Shepherd University in West Virginia.
Lynch said the Hilltoppers have been involved in his recruitment for the last two weeks. He revealed that what led to his commitment was how he was treated like a top priority by WKU assistant coach and inside linebackers coach Travis Cunningham.
Lynch told InsideHilltopperSports.com that he's coming off a visit to Western Kentucky this past weekend, adding that he loved the stadium, facilities, campus and the quality of the equipment.
The native of Springfield, Virginia, is coming off a 2022 season where he tallied 81 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss, and one sack to go along with three interceptions.
He tallied a season-high 11 tackles twice last season against California (Pa.) and Indiana (Pa.).
Lynch is Western Kentucky's first linebacker addition from the transfer portal this offseason.
He is the 12th overall transfer portal pickup for the Hilltoppers this offseason, joining the following below:
Marquis Black, DL, Nebraska
Blue Smith, WR, Cincinnati
Ze'Vian Capers, WR, Auburn
Jimmy Holiday, WR, Tennessee
Daniel Edwards, WR, Illinois
Mike Moment, OL, Alcorn State
Trevor Borland, TE, Buffalo
