As the Ides of National Signing Day draw closer and closer, expect to see some significant movin' and shakin' on the recruiting trail.
Western Kentucky hosted 13 recruits on campus this weekend and came away with three more verbal commitments in O'Fallon (IL) quarterback Todd Porter, Miami (FL) Northwestern cornerback Leverick Johnson, and Pine Forest (Pensacola, FL) defensive end DeMarcus Glover.
I recently caught up with Glover and asked him what the most appealing aspect of his visit to WKU was.
"First off, I'd say coach Petrino and the coaching staff, the players and the bond I made with some of the players, and the facilities are very nice. As a program, I see the program going in a positive direction for the future."
I asked Glover to describe himself as a player and what he can bring to the Hilltoppers defensively.
"Coach (Nick) Holt, the defensive coordinator, likes the way I get off the ball and bring a rush to the edge and getting to the quarterback and stopping the ball."
Despite giving WKU his verbal pledge, Glover still has official visits to Florida Atlantic and Louisiana-Lafayette planned in the coming weekends before he puts pen to paper on February 6th.
With the recent recruiting additions comes a couple of subtractions from the 2013 class as well.
Chris Huhn, a three-star offensive tackle from Pickerington (OH) North flipped his commitment from Western Kentucky to Marshall today.
Huhn stated on his Twitter account, "I am officially committed to play football at Marshall University!! Go HERD!!! Couldn't be happier with my decision!!"
Also, Buford (GA) two-star running back Dontravious Wilson, de-committed from the Hilltoppers today in favor of Central Florida. Wilson was on his official visit with the Golden Knights this weekend and his expected to visit South Florida (or WKU South) next weekend.
Both Huhn and Wilson were recruited by Willie Taggart during his tenure at WKU.
One thing is clear, as the recruiting world turns and the Ides of National Signing Day draw closer for Western Kentucky, expect to see more shifting with the recruits that committed under Taggart while Petrino continues to move in on his style of players.
