Week 1 of the NFL season is in the books and seven Hilltoppers position themselves ready to make an impact on this upcoming season. Let's look at a couple of Hilltoppers who made the biggest splashes in this week's set of games.

TE Jack Doyle, Indianapolis Colts

Jack Doyle finds himself in a two tight end offense with teammate Eric Ebron. Along with the rest of the offense, both Doyle and Ebron are adjusting to Jacoby Brissett as their starting QB. The sudden change comes off the recent, yet shocking, announcement of Andrew Luck's retirement. Team expectations for the Colts dropped extensively following the QB change. Despite all the "noise" surrounding the franchise, Doyle managed to haul in one catch for 20 yards this past Sunday in the Colts' 30-24 loss to the LA Chargers in overtime.

The offense seemed to flow cohesively through the air and on the ground, but Indianapolis couldn't pull the victory out in overtime. Nonetheless, the Colts take their 0-1 record to Nashville this Sunday, for a Week 2 match up with the Tennessee Titans. Kickoff is set for 12 PM CT on CBS.

TE Tyler Higbee, Los Angeles Rams

Tyler Higbee added to a successful week, that included a 4-year, $31 million contract extension, by scoring a touchdown in the Rams, 30-27, victory over the Panthers on Sunday. Higbee fought to prove his worth as one of the top ten highest paid tight ends in the NFL, by totaling 4 catches for 20 yards including that one touchdown in the Rams week one win. The Rams take their 1-0 record back home to LA and prepare for a big Week 2 match up with fellow NFC contenders, the New Orleans Saints. Kickoff is set for 3:25 PM CT on FOX.

Other WKU Hilltoppers without Week 1 stats:

LB Joel Iyiegbuniwe, Chicago Bears (10-3 loss to Green Bay Packers)

TE Deon Yelder, Kansas City Chiefs (40-26 win over Jacksonville Jaguars)

WR Taywan Taylor, Cleveland Browns (43-13 loss to Tennessee Titans)
